This was a week for the books, and maybe the best week of my mission. So spiritual, full of learning, and testifiying. Almost half of the week we were at the mission office for meetings, interviews, etc. But with the time we had in our area, it was amazing.
So on Tuesday, we had interviews with President. Interviews are always so great, and President always has advice and words that answers all questions. I haave learned a lot while serving here with him. I believe it is one of the reasons I was called to this mission.
On Wednesday we had our Leadership Council with Elder Bassett and his wife. It was amazing, and they both brought a spirit that was so strong. They truly are called of God. He talked about Alma and Amulek and their experience together. Amulek lost his family, and Alma was there to comfort and strengthen him. We should look for opportunities to comfort and strengthen others whether they are missionaries, members, investigators, or other people. We are all children of our Heavenly Father, which makes us a family. We should strive to strengthen our family.
On Wednesday night, we were out making some contacts and doing some visits. Our last plan of the day feel through, and we started making our way back home. As we we passed their street, we felt impressed to visit Maria and Israel. We were worried about getting home late, so we kept walking, but the feeling kept getting stronger. So we turned around and went to visit them quickly. We gopt there, and they weren´t there. We were super confused at first because we had no idea why we were impressed to go there. We gave them a call, no answer, so we started to head back home. While we were walking home, we passed a member, and started talking to us. He told us he had an important referall to pass to us. We noted it down, and marked to visit this referall on Sunday. This exoerience helped me understand that the Lord works in ways we don´t always understand. Grateful that he prompted us to go to their house so that on the way back we could talk to the member.
Edson is still struggling with smoking, so we are praying and following up with him daily. He´ll get through it!
On Friday we went to the mission office again to prepare for the Zone Conference with Elder Bassett. It was so spiritual, and I learned a lot! After I was able to have an interview with him which was also inspiring. He is called of God. He talked about sacrifice. For me, sacrifice may be defined spiritually as giving up something valuable or precious, with the intent of accomplishing a greater purpose or goal. I like to make the comparison of Practice and put it hand in hand with this principle. We sacrifice our valuable time and effort to be able to gain in return something of more value (the bettering of a skill, sport, or activity in which is referenced). When we sacrifice, we grow. Especially when we sacrifice our will for the Lord´s will. I love the scripture in Luke 9:24 that says,
“For whosoever will save his life, must be willing to lose it for my sake; and whosoever will be willing to lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it."
The Lord will help us find out who we are, our purposes in our life, and where we´re going. He transforms Caterpillars into Butterflies :)
