Well - where to start? On Tuesday after a big lunch, Elder Morais felt awful, and threw up a few times, so we had to call it a day, and stayed in the house for the rest of the day. He was all better by Wednesday, and we were able to get back to work. Our area here is fairly small, so every other day we are working in the same part of the area. It kind of feels like everyone already knows us. As you walk down the street, you´ll just hear "Elders!!!!" The people here are very friendly when it comes to talking with us, but when it comes to hearing a message, their moods suddenly change.
I forgot to write about Natalia two weeks back. She is a 9 year old girl, and isn´t a member, but her mom has been a less active member over the years. We found out Natalia isn´t a member, and started teaching her. She was really eager to be baptized and wants to be baptized on her birthday (This Sunday) We marked the date, and are still teaching her. Hopefully all goes well, and through her baptism we can reactivate her mom!
The ward here is fairly small because there are TONS of less actives. We have been looking for them lately, and have been working on reactivating families and people. None of our investigators made it to church yesterday, which is always a bummer, but we still have faith, hope, and are trusting in the Lord.
I think this week we have seen how the Lord works in mysterious ways. For example, we will have a contact, or an address that we are going to visit. Usually they aren´t there. If they aren´t there, the alternative plan is to knock doors on the same street. Usually we are able to find someone on the street. Sometimes we go to neighborhoods with the intent of teaching someone, but the Lord has someone else there who is waiting to hear. The Lord truly works in mysterious ways, and I have recognized that this week.I was reading the talks of President Uchtdorf and President Monson from the last General Conference. In these talks, they both address the marvelous Plan of Salvation. It truly stuck out to me when President Monson is talking about our loving Heavenly Father. He says, "He does nothing save it be for our benefit." I thought about that a lot this week, and think that it is an important thing to remember. The Plan of Salvation includes all of our experiences here on Earth. We have moments of pain, joy, trials, happiness, and many more! But everything we go through here is because our Heavenly Father knows exactly how we can benefit the most. I think when we think with this mindset, it can be easier to endure through trials with faith and hope.
